Biographies
Duncan T. Landreth, MD, FACC, is a 1978 graduate of the University of Oregon Health Sciences Center Medical School. He received residency training at the University of California, Davis Affiliated Program II, VA Medical Center. He received his cardiovascular disease specialty training at the University of California, Davis Affiliated Program II VA Medical Center. He is board certified in Internal Medicine, 1981, Cardiovascular Diseases, 1983 and National Board of Echocardiography, 1998. Dr. Landreth has worked in the area since 1983 and is the founder of Pacific Northwest Cardiology. He enjoys spending time with his family, running marathons, and is currently trying his hand at winemaking.
Robert B. Stewart, MD, FACC, is a 1983 graduate of the University of Washington with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. He graduated from the University of Washington School of Medicine in 1988 and received Internal Medicine residency training at Duke University Medical Center from 1988 to 1991 and completed his Cardiology Fellowship at the University of Washington from 1991 to 1994. He became board certified in Internal Medicine in 1991 and Cardiovascular Diseases in 1995. He has worked at Pacific Northwest Cardiology since 1994. Dr. Stewart is the Medical Director for the Echocardiography Laboratory for Pacific Northwest Cardiology and Skagit Valley Hospital, and for the Cardiac Rehabilitation Program at United General Hospital. He is President of Cardiac Nuclear Medical Associates, a cardiac nuclear imaging joint venture with Pacific Northwest Cardiology and Skagit Valley Hospital. Dr. Stewart is very involved in youth athletic programs and helps coach several youth basketball teams including his sons' basketball teams. He spends his spare time with his wife Carrie, his daughter and two sons.
Theodore D. Hegg, MD, FACC, is a graduate of Whitworth College in Spokane and graduated from the University of Washington School of Medicine in 1970. He performed an Internal Medicine Internship at the University of Rochester/Strong Memorial Hospital in New York, received residency training in Internal Medicine at the University of Rochester/Strong Memorial Hospital and a Cardiology Fellowship at the University of Washington. He is board certified in Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Diseases. He has a special interest in cardiac nuclear medicine and echocardiography, but particularly enjoys working with patients to provide evidence-based approaches to their illnesses. He joined Pacific Northwest Cardiology in 2000 prior to which he spent 23 years at Group Health Cooperative in the Seattle area where he served as chief of Cardiology for many years. He and his wife enjoy traveling, cycling, kayaking, hiking, backpacking, and birding and have found the Skagit Valley a wonderful place in which to pursue their outdoor interests.
Jeffrey Feld, MD, FACC, graduated from the University of Maryland School of Medicine, and obtained his residency in Internal Medicine at the Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C.. He pursued a specialty Fellowship in Cardiovascular Diseases at the University of South Florida in Tampa, Florida. He returned to Mount Vernon and worked with Pacific Northwest Cardiology for several years, before taking off to explore other practices and other parts of the country. During this time he was an Attending in Cardiology at the University of Vermont School of Medicine, and obtained a Master of Science in Administration from St. Michael’s College in Colchester, Vermont. Dr. Feld returned to Pacific Northwest Cardiology in January of 2005. Dr. Feld’s practice interests and specialized training include diagnostic evaluation and treatment of cardiovascular disease, Echocardiography, nuclear cardiology, pacemaker implantation and management, and risk factor assessment and prevention. He is American Board of Internal Medicine Certified in Cardiovascular Diseases and Internal Medicine, Board of Nuclear Cardiology Certified, and a member of the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology. Dr. Feld enjoys blues and classical guitar, photography, and traveling with his wife, Priscilla. Dr. Feld has three children and he and Priscilla are delighted to be home in Skagit County.
Kamol Lohavanichbutr MD, FACC, is a native of Thailand who attended medical school at Mahidol University, Ramathibodi Hospital in Bangkok. He performed his Internal Medicine Internship and Residency at Meridia Huron Hospital in Cleveland Ohio; an additional Internal Medicine Residency at Mt. Sinai Medical Center at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland; a Cardiology Fellowship at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver and fellowships in Echocardiography and Interventional Cardiology, both at St. Paul’s Hospital at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver. He joined Pacific Northwest Cardiology in May 2005 after four years as an Interventional Cardiologist at St. Alexius Medical Center is Bismarck, N.D. He is board certified in Cardiovascular Disease and Interventional Cardiology. He enjoys hiking, nature photography, and traveling with his wife, Pawadee.
J. Stanley Crie, MD, FACC, is a recent addition to Pacific Northwest Cardiology. Stan graduated from the University at Texas Southwestern Medical School at Dallas in 1974. He completed internship and residency in Internal Medicine at University of Arizona Medical Center in Tucson in 1977. He did his cardiovascular training at University of Texas Southwestern Medical School at Dallas and at the Cardiothoracic Institute, University of London. He then returned to Southwestern Medical School where he served on the faculty for two years. He was board certified in Internal Medicine in 1977 and Cardiovascular Diseases in 1981. After working in Kansas City for six years he has been in cardiology practice in St. Joseph, Missouri for 18 years doing a broad range of cardiology including interventional, noninvasive and consultative practice. He and his wife Candie are looking forward to traveling in the area and taking in the sights of the spectacular Pacific Northwest and spending more time with Granddaughter Conor (3 years old) and Grandson Dake (1 month old) who live nearby with their parents in Seattle.
Ellen M. Gallant, MD, FACC, graduated in 1993 from Columbia University, College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York City. She then completed her residency in Internal Medicine and her fellowship in Cardiovascular Disease at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center before relocating to Scripps Clinic, Green Hospital in La Jolla, California for further training in Interventional Cardiology. Dr. Gallant has been in practice in Texas and Colorado as well as being on the faculty at UC-Davis Medical Center in Sacramento. She is board-certified in Cardiovascular Disease, Interventional Cardiology, and Nuclear Cardiology. She joined PNWC in November 2007.
Dr. Gallant’s clinical interests include coronary and peripheral interventions as well as transesophageal echocardiography, cardiac nuclear imaging, permanent pacemaker insertion, and coronary CT angiography.
When not working, Ellen is likely to be off cycling, climbing a tall mountain, or skiing.
Sanjeev Wasson, MD, is a 1994 graduate of Maulana Azad Medical College at the University of Delhi in New Delhi, India. He received his residency and completed his fellowship in Cardiovascular Diseases at the University of Missouri, Columbia School of Medicine and the Harry S. Truman Memorial Veterans’ Hospital in Columbia, Missouri from 2000-2006. Dr. Wasson received a fellowship in Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology at Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Cleveland, Ohio. He is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Diseases by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He has also received Board Certification from the Certification Board of Nuclear Cardiology and the National Board of Echocardiography. Dr. Wasson specializes in Cardiac Electrophysiology, saying “I strive to provide world-class cardiac electrophysiologic services to my patients with utmost competence and compassion.”
Joel Meckstroth, ARNP, completed his Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Washington State University in 1979 and his Masters of Nursing Science at Gonzaga University in 1998. Joel spent 13 years in the intensive care unit at Skagit Valley Hospital as an RN, then received his master’s degree and joined Pacific Northwest Cardiology in 1998 as an ARNP. Joel enjoys spending time with wife Joelene, his three children, and their many pets. Their family enjoys fishing, hunting, gardening, vacationing, and participating in various church activities.
Susan Dana, MS, ARNP, received her Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from the Intercollegiate Center for Nursing Education in Spokane and her Masters in Nursing from the University of Washington. She is board certified by the ANCC as an Adult Nurse Practitioner. She started her nursing career in the Cardiac Care Unit at Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane. She has worked as a patient educator at Swedish Medical Center and as a Nurse Practitioner at Minor and James Cardiology, where she started a lipid clinic. She joined Pacific Northwest Cardiology in 2003. Susan enjoys running and numerous other outdoor activities.
Stephen “Ed” Whorrall, PA-C, joined Pacific Northwest Cardiology in 2008. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin – Madison’s Department of Medicine in 2002 and is certified with the National Commission on Certification of Physicians Assistants. His practice philosophy includes the delivery of holistic and evidence-based care with strong patient, family and practitioner participation.”
